From May 18 to 28, the 2026 International Summer Program jointly organized by the School of Mechanical and Automotive Engineering of Shanghai University of Engineering Science (SUES) and Moscow State University of Technology "STANKIN" was successfully concluded. Different from traditional classroom-based exchange models, this summer program deeply integrated cutting-edge technology teaching, hands-on practical training, corporate visits, and Chinese cultural experiences, creating an immersive learning journey for the Russian faculty and students. Over the course of nearly two weeks, the delegation from STANKIN learned, practiced, and explored together with SUES faculty and students, gaining professional knowledge and deep friendships.

On May 19, the program officially began after the opening ceremony. The Russian students first toured the campus and visited the laboratories of the School of Mechanical and Automotive Engineering, the Cruise Ship Laboratory of the School of Management, and the Rail Transit Laboratory, gaining first-hand understanding of SUES' teaching and research environment and experimental facilities.

Robotics technology was one of the key teaching components of this program. Around this theme, the program offered multi-level courses and workshops. In the fundamental robotics courses, Russian students systematically learned about cutting-edge robotics technologies. They also participated in hands-on practice and training workshops, where they were divided into small groups together with SUES students from the Embodied Intelligence Special Class to carry out robot control and debugging practices based on the three-rotor concept.

The program also arranged several cutting-edge mechanical engineering courses covering topics such as renewable energy development and advanced manufacturing technologies. These systematic courses helped Russian students gain in-depth understanding of current hot topics in mechanical engineering and provided effective comparisons and useful supplements to what they have learned at their home university.

Two corporate visits were specially organized, taking Russian students out of the campus to real production and R&D fronts. At Shanghai Baolong Automotive Corporation, students learned about the R&D and manufacturing processes of intelligent and lightweight automotive components. At CHINT Electric, they observed the actual operation of low-voltage electrical equipment, smart energy systems, and automated production lines.

In addition, the Russian students experienced Chinese calligraphy and ink painting on fan surfaces, and visited cultural landmarks such as Guangfulin Cultural Relics Park, the Shanghai Museum, the Bund, and the Shanghai Auto Museum, fully appreciating Shanghai's profound historical heritage and unique modern charm.

On May 26, during the summer program, a delegation led by Elena Gorozhankina, Advisor to the Rector and Head of the International Affairs Office of Moscow State University of Technology "STANKIN", visited SUES. The two sides held in-depth discussions on further deepening their partnership. After the meeting, the delegation held a special symposium with the Russian students participating in the summer program to learn in detail about their real experiences in courses and other activities. The students unanimously expressed that the program offered rich content, reasonable arrangements, and great rewards, giving high praise to this summer program.

On the morning of May 28, the closing ceremony was held in Room 8B605 of the Transportation Building. The ceremony was attended by Dean Fang Yu, Associate Dean Zhang Liqiang, and relevant faculty members from the School of Mechanical and Automotive Engineering, as well as Deputy Director Li Cong from the Office of International Cooperation and Exchange of SUES, together with the faculty and students from STANKIN.
In his speech, Fang Yu noted that the two universities share a solid foundation for cooperation and broad prospects for development. He was delighted to see the in-depth exchanges between Russian students and SUES students, and expressed his hope that everyone would maintain good relations in the future and jointly promote the partnership between the two universities to a new level.
Li Cong awarded the completion certificates to the Russian students and delivered a speech. He expressed his hope that the Russian faculty and students would become bridges and ambassadors of friendly exchange between the two universities, bringing this summer memory imbued with Chinese impressions to a broader world stage.

The successful hosting of this international summer program has not only deepened the cooperative relationship between SUES and Moscow State University of Technology "STANKIN", but also built a solid platform for in-depth academic and cultural exchanges between young students of China and Russia.
